A survey presented at the 10th World Congress on Bioethics and Animal Law reveals that out of 35 animal protection proposals in Brazil’s Congress, only three focus on farmed animals—highlighting a critical gap in legal protections for animals in production systems.

Brazil has become the first country in the world to ban both the production and sale of foie gras. The historic law marks a major victory for animals and reflects years of advocacy, coalition building, and public mobilization led by civil society organizations, including Sinergia Animal.
